DOGS RALLY LATE FOR EXTRA-INNING WIN

Chicago 9, Sioux City 6 (10 Innings) – Box Score

The Chicago Dogs rallied from a five-run deficit to claim a 9-6 win in 10 innings against the Sioux City Explorers.

The Dogs were trailing 6-1 heading into the top of the eighth inning before 1B Trey Vavra doubled home C Rey Gonzalez to chip into the lead. In the ninth, Gonzalez hit a sac fly to right field that plated RF Victor Roache (2-for-5) and pulled the Dogs within three runs. In the next at-bat, with two outs, CF David Olmedo-Barrera hit a three-run home run to tie the game.

After a scoreless bottom half, the Dogs kept things going in the top of the 10th as they loaded up the bases. 3B/SS Gustavo Pierre drew a walk to score Vavra and then LF Tony Rosselli hit into a fielder’s choice that allowed Roache to score. 2B/SS Jordan Dean also scored on the play due to an error.

Closer Kyle Halbohn earned the win for the Dogs as he worked the final three innings without allowing a hit or a run and struck out five batters including three in the 10th.

For the Explorers, CF Kyle Wren, RF Michael Lang and SS Nate Samson each had a pair of hits.

 

Milwaukee 10, Texas 3 – Box Score

The Milwaukee Milkmen (24-32) handled the Texas AirHogs 10-3 thanks to three home runs from CF Adam Walker.

Walker (3-for-5, 5 RBIs) tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the second inning with a lead-off home run and then pushed the Milkmen in front 4-2 with a three-run shot in the top of the fourth. He added another solo shot in the top of the ninth and, two batters later, DH Dan Ward (2-for-4) hit a two-run home run to put a bow on the victory. RF Nolan Early and SS Sam Dexter each added a pair of hits for the Milkmen.

For the AirHogs, CF Javion Randle went 3-for-5 with an RBI and 1B Stewart Ijames went 2-for-5.

 

Cleburne 3, Lincoln 2 – Box Score

The Cleburne Railroaders (32-24) edged the Lincoln Saltdogs 3-2 Wednesday evening at The Depot at Cleburne Station.

The Railroaders built an early lead as 3B Chase Simpson (2-for-3) hit a sac fly in the bottom of the first that plated SS Daniel Robertson and 1B Grant Buck doubled home CF Zach Nehrir in the second. The Saltdogs battled back to tie things up as 3B/LF Cody Regis homered in the seventh and CF Forrestt Allday (2-for-4) singled home C Daniel Herrera (2-for-4) in the eighth.

Robertson scored the eventual game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth as Simpson hit a ground-rule double.

 

Gary SouthShore 5, Fargo-Moorhead 1 – Box Score

With the help of a pair of home runs from RF Colin Willis, the Gary SouthShore RailCatgs (23-33) beat the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 5-1.

1B Alex Crosby provided the first blast of the game with a two-run shot in the bottom of the third inning. Willis (2-for-3) hit his first homer of the night in the fourth with a lead-off shot and then hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning to give the RailCats a 5-0 lead. The RedHawks’ only run came in the top of the ninth as DH Chris Jacobs (2-for-4) hit a solo home run.

Starting pitcher Justin Sinibaldi (3-4) picked up the win on the bump as he worked seven scoreless innings, gave up four hits and struck out four batters.

 

Kansas City 2, St. Paul 1 – Box Score

The Kansas City T-Bones (29-26) slid past the St. Paul Saints 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon at CHS Field.

2B Dylan Tice (2-for-3) scored the first run of the day in the top of the first inning when DH Christopher Colabello lifted a sacrifice fly to right field. The Saints matched that run in the bottom half of the frame as 1B John Silviano (2-for-4) singled to center to allow SS Chris Baker to score. The T-Bones scored the decisive run in the top of the sixth as Tice scored again, this time on a single from SS Shawn O’Malley (3-for-4).

Starting pitcher Dylan Baker (2-2) earned the win on the day as he went six innings and gave up one run on five hits while striking out four batters.

 

Winnipeg 9, Sioux Falls 3 – Box Score

The Winnipeg Goldeyes (31-25) rode a hot start to a 9-3 win against the Sioux Falls Canaries.

The Goldeyes took the early lead as SS Wes Darville (3-for-5) scored on an error in the first, 2B Alex Perez and C Cody Young had RBI base hits in the second and 3B Dominic Fiociello (2-for-4) and CF Reggie Abercrombie had two-RBI extra base hits in the third. Darville added a two-run home run in the sixth to push the lead to 9-0.

All of the Canaries’ runs came in the top of the ninth inning as DH Kevin Taylor (3-for-5) doubled home 1B Jordan Ebert and C Graham Low and then scored in the next at-bat when 2B Alay Lago (2-for-5) singled to left.
