The 2015 American Association Manager of the Year, Steve Montgomery, spent nine seasons in professional baseball, playing in the Orioles, Royals, Dodgers and Red Sox organizations, reaching as high as Triple-A in 1997. He also played independent baseball in the Frontier and Northern Leagues; Montgomery finished his playing career with Fargo-Moorhead from 2001-2003, where he is the team’s all-time save leader (47).
Montgomery began his coaching career in 2004 with the RedHawks, and from 2005-2009, he also served as the pitching coach for North Dakota State University. In his 10 seasons as the pitching coach, the Redhawks have compiled a 590-383 record, resulting in a .606 winning percentage during his tenure.
