RAILCATS' MARZILLI HEADED BACK TO DIAMONDBACKS' ORGANIZATION

MOORHEAD, MINN. – The Gary SouthShore RailCats have sold the contract of OF Evan Marzilli to the Arizona Diamondbacks’ organization, the American Association announced Sunday, July 7. Marzilli is the 30th  American Association player to have his contract purchased by a Major League organization in 2019.

Marzilli hit .192 with seven doubles, one triple, 13 RBIs, and 31 walks with the RailCats in 2019,.The 31 walks drawn by the 28-year-old has Marzilli tied for fourth most in the American Association.

The patient hitter began his professional career in 2012 after being drafted in the eighth round of the MLB Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Marzilli spent seven seasons in the Diamondbacks’ organization, reaching Triple-A four different times.
