SINGLE BY LEMON IN EXTRAS WINS GAME FOR T-BONES

Kansas City 8, Sioux Falls 7 (11 innings) – Box

Thanks to a five-run fifth inning, the T-Bones led the Canaries in the eighth inning 7-4. Then, C Aaron Gretz hit a run-scoring triple to cut the lead to two. In the bottom of the ninth, the Canaries tied the game, thanks to back-to-back bases loaded walks by SS Blake Schmit and Gretz. 3B Marcus Lemon provided the game-winning hit in the eleventh, as he hit a single with the bases loaded to break a 7-7 tie for the T-Bones. Gretz was 3-4 with two RBIs in the loss for the Canaries. 2B Zach Walters was 2-5 in the win, with two runs scored and four runs knocked in. 1B Burt Reynolds hit his first two long balls of the season in the loss. LHP Rich Mascheri pitched the final 2.1 innings, allowing no runs and picking up the win.

Winnipeg 5, Lincoln 3 – Box 

A three-run eighth inning by the Goldeyes broke a 2-2 tie and led the team to victory over the Saltdogs. C Mason Katz knocked the first run of the inning in on a RBI single. Two batters later, RF David Rohm knocked a second run in with a RBI single. 1B David Bergin kept with the pattern, hitting the third RBI single of the inning to score Rohm and propel the Goldeyes to a 5-3 victory. C Dashenko Ricardo scored on a wild pitch in the ninth to make it a two-run game, but the Saltdogs were unable to chip away at the lead anymore, as RHP Ryan Chaffee picked up the save. Chaffee pitched the ninth inning, allowed a run on two hits and struck out three. Katz, Rohm, and Bergin all had multi-hit games on the night. LF Brandon Jacobs was 1-4 on the night, picking up the lone RBI for the Saltdogs. LHP Mitchell Lambson picked up the win, pitching a scoreless eighth for the Goldeyes.

Cleburne 2, Texas 1 – Box

The AirHogs scored the first run of the game in the second inning, as 1B Levi Scott scored on a RBI put out by DH Brian Ragira. The Railroaders promptly tied it in the bottom of the third and in the fourth, they took a decisive 2-1 lead that they would hold on to for the remainder of the game. CF KC Huth provided the game-winning RBI on a fielder’s choice. RF Mitch Glasser was 2-4 in the win with a RBI. LHP Onas Farfan picked up the win in relief, pitching 1.1 scoreless innings, allowing no runs on no hits, while walking two and striking out one. RHP Winston Abreu picked up the save for the Railroaders, pitching a scoreless ninth.  

Wichita 11, Fargo-Moorhead 6 – Box

A six-run fourth inning led the way as the Wingnuts improved their record to 11-5 on the season, beating the RedHawks 11-6 on the night. 3B TJ Mittelstaedt started the scoring with a three-run blast, his second long ball of the season. Then, 1B Matt Chavez hit a home run on the next play, one of his three runs scored on the night. Two batters later, C Martin Medina added to the home run parade, hitting a two-run shot for his first homer of the season to make it 6-0. The RedHawks scored four runs in the sixth to make it a 6-4 lead, with the big play coming on a two-run homer from 1B Mitch Delfino. However, the RedHawks only added two more runs, as the Wingnuts went on to win 11-6. RHP Alex Boshers earned the win, pitching 6.1 innings, allowing four runs on four hits, and striking out six. Delfino went 2-5 with two RBIs and a run scored in the loss.

Gary 9, Sioux City 6 – Box

The Railcats wasted no time, as they exploded for four runs in the top of the first on Saturday. RF Colin Willis started the scoring with a two-run double. Then, DH Frank Martinez knocked Willis in on a RBI single. Then, 3B Kris Goodman added the fourth RBI of the inning on a bases-loaded hit by pitch. The Railcats had an 8-0 lead in the third when the Explorers got two runs back on a sacrifice fly by RF Michael Lang and a RBI single by SS Nate Samson. The Explorers added three more runs in the fifth to make it a three-run lead, but they were unable to fully claw back, as they lost 9-6. Willis was 2-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs in the win. RHP Ryan Fritze picked up the win in relief, pitching 1.1 innings, allowing a run on three hits and striking out two. RHP Jorge De Leon pitched a scoreless ninth in the win.

Salina at St Paul – Postponed

The game between the Stockade and Saints was postponed due to rain. The game will be made up as a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 11:00 am at CHS Field.
