Stan Hough begins his second stint as manager of the Cats in 2011. He guided Fort Worth to back-to-back American Association championships in 2006 and 2007. Hough also served as the team’s hitting instructor and third base coach in 2004 and 2005.
Hough, 57, started his coaching career back in 1983 where he served as a player/coach with Daytona in the Houston Astros organization. His first manager’s job came in 1987 with the Texas Rangers’ Gulf Coast League Affiliate. In 1997-1998 Hough managed the Waterbury Spirit in the Northeast League.
The Waco, TX native led the New York Yankees’ South Atlantic League Greensboro team in 1999 and 2000 before being assigned to the managerial post of the Triple A Ottawa Lynx (Montreal Expos affiliate) in 2001. Hough was a hitting instructor for the Clinton Lumberkings in the Expos organization in 2002. The following year, he managed the Baltimore Orioles Class A Delmarva Shorebirds in the South Atlantic League.
Hough was originally drafted by the New York Mets in the second round of the 1974 draft and spent six seasons catching in their organization.
