Moore enters his first season as skipper of the Captains. He has been the manager of the Edinburg Roadrunners/Coyotes since 2005, taking the club to the playoffs five of his six seasons as manager. He was the 2006 United League Manager of the Year. He has had two of his former players make it to the Major Leagues---pitcher Edwar Ramirez and catcher Robinson Cancel.
Moore, 39, was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the fifth round of the 1991 Major League Baseball Draft. In 1993, he was traded to the San Diego Padres along with two other players in exchange for Fred McGriff. In his 14-year playing career, Moore hit .270 with 71 home runs and 702 RBI in 1,286 games and reached Double-A twice---Wichita (1994) and Memphis (1996). |
