Talmadge Nunnari enters his second season as field manager of the Pensacola Pelicans. In 2009, Nunnari led the Pelicans to the league championship series, losing to the Lincoln Saltdogs in game five.
Nunnari, a Pensacola native, has served as the Pelicans general manager since the middle of the 2006 season. He has 12 years under his belt in professional baseball including playing, coaching and administration. The Montreal Expos selected Nunnari in the ninth round of the 1997 MLB draft. He made his major league debut on September 7, 2000 versus the St. Louis Cardinals. His first major league hit came off of current big league pitcher, AJ Burnett. Overall, Nunnari, 35, played in 18 games for the Expos going 1-for-5 with a RBI, two runs scored and six walks.
While at Jacksonville University in 1997, he was named an All-American and awarded the Division 1-A Sunbelt Conference Player of the Year.
