Less than six weeks removed from his release from the Houston Astros organization, Kansas City T-Bones C Christian Correa is headed back to affiliated baseball. His stint in the American Association has paved the way for his contract to be purchased by the Colorado Rockies.

Correa appeared in eight games for the T-Bones in 2017, hitting .215 with a home run and five RBI. His defining moment in a Kansas City uniform came on May 30 at the Gary SouthShore RailCats, when he hit a rare inside-the-park home run. Kansas City cruised to an 11-0 win in the game.

Prior to his stint with the T-Bones, the Coconut Creek. Fla. native was a member of the Astros system for parts of three seasons. He debuted as a professional in 2015, playing 24 combined games between the Rookie Level Gulf Coast League Astros and Greeneville (Tenn.) Astros. Correa went 5-for-41 with two doubles and two RBI in his 2015 campaign.

In 2016, Correa split time between the Class A Quad Cities (Iowa) River Bandits and the Class A Advanced Lancaster (Calif.) JetHawks. Playing in 66 games, he increased his season average to .216 (50-for-231) with 11 doubles, four home runs and 22 RBI. Correa began his 2017 season with the Class A Advanced Buies Creek (N.C.) Astros, Houston’s new affiliate in the Carolina League. Prior to his release, he played in 16 games, hitting .208 with five doubles, a home run and four RBI.

Correa becomes the 28th T-Bone to be sold to a Major League organization in franchise history. Kansas City visits the Sioux Falls Canaries on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. Central time. The game can be seen live and for free at www.americanassociationbaseball.tv.
