DURHAM, NC – The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Amarillo Sox RHP Ryan Mitchell (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week.
Mitchell delivered a pair of solid performances to pick up two wins for the Sox. His first victory came on Monday, at home against El Paso. The right-hander tossed seven innings, allowing three runs on four hits. He also struck out eight Diablos. In his next outing, he fanned seven Laredo Lemurs over 6.2 innings. The Sox squeaked out a one-run victory, as Mitchell held Laredo to just one run and one hit.
Over the week, Mitchell held an ERA of 2.63. He also averaged slightly more than one strikeout per inning (1.10). After his performances this week, Amarillo has won each of Mitchell’s last six starts. Mitchell has earned the decision in five of those outings.
