Sioux City 2, Amarillo 1 (14 Innings)
Sioux City 3B Tommy Mendonca doubled home CF Michael Lang with the game winning run in the bottom of the 14th inning as the Explorers edge past the Amarillo Sox, 2-1. Lang and 2B Andres Perez each had three hits in the game for Sioux City. Explorers reliever Chris Bodishbaugh tossed 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the victory after allowing only a hit and fanning two batters. Amarillo LF Cory Patton hit a solo home run in the fourth inning for their only run of the game.
Grand Prairie 3, Laredo 1
The Grand Prairie AirHogs plated two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to break a 1-1 tie and beat the Laredo Lemurs by the score of 3-1. Grand Prairie 1B Andres Rodriguez went 2-for-4 on the night with two runs scored, including the go ahead run in the eighth. AirHogs CF Eric Baker also chipped in with two hits while LF Palmer Karr went 1-for-4, with a RBI triple in the two-run eighth. Grand Prairie reliever Yhency Brazoban tossed 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout to pick up the victory. In the loss for Laredo, 2B Travis Denker hit a solo home run.
St. Paul 10, Sioux Falls 8
Trailing 3-0 after 1 ½ innings, the St. Paul Saints scored seven runs over the next three innings to a take a 7-3 lead and would go on from there to collect a 10-8 win over the Sioux Falls Canaries. St. Paul CF Angelo Songco had a monster game at the plate going 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, two runs scored and three RBI. Three other Saints hitters had multi-hit games including SS Joey Becker who went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI. St. Paul starting pitcher Nick Barnese notched his first victory going six innings and giving up three earned runs on seven hits.
Fargo-Moorhead 4, Kansas City 2
Fargo-Moorhead rallied for three runs in the sixth inning to overcome a 2-1 deficit and beat Kansas City by the score of 4-2. RedHawks LF Sawyer Carroll had two hits on the night and drove in a pair of runs. Fargo-Moorhead RF Tim Alberts went 1-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI while CF Nic Jackson plated a run in a 1-for-5 night. RedHawks starting pitcher Jake Laber evened his mark at 1-1 on the season with the win. Laber went 5 1/3 innings giving up two earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts.
Wichita 5, Gary SouthShore 3
The Wichita Wingnuts withstood a furious ninth inning rally to beat the Gary South Shore RailCats, 5-3. Wichita took a 5-0 lead into the ninth. Gary SouthShore loaded the bases up with one out and brought in a run via a walk to make it 5-1. RailCats’ Josh Romanski then hit a two-run single to cut the Wingnuts lead to 5-3. However that would be as close as the RailCats would get as Wichita closer Matt Nevarez struck out Wally Backman to end the game. Wichita starting pitcher Tim Brown picked up his first win of the season while Nevarez got out of the jam in the ninth to notch his fifth save of the season.
