DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Gary SouthShore RailCats RHP Charle Rosario (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending July 12.
Rosario logged two strong starts for the RailCats this week. On Tuesday, he took the hill against the Sioux City Explorers, picking up a win in a 1-0 RailCats triumph. Rosario’s eight innings included just four hits and one walk with four strikeouts. Just four days later, the Simpsonville, S.C. resident was back on the mound to face the Sioux Falls Canaries at home. He earned another win with another shutout performance. Over 7.2 innings, Rosario limited the Canaries to four hits and no walks with four strikeouts. Gary went on to win 4-1.
On the season, Rosario is now 8-3 with a 3.45 ERA in 11 starts. He has worked 67.2 innings, striking out 47 and only walking 13.
This is Rosario’s first season in the American Association after six years with the Boston Red Sox system, a year with the Can-Am League’s Quebec Capitales, and a year in the Frontier League. He reached as far as Class AA Portland in the Red Sox system, playing parts of the 2011 and 2012 seasons there.
The RailCats begin a road series at the Winnipeg Goldeyes on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Central time at Shaw Park. The series will be available live and for free at www.americanassociationbaseball.tv.
