Cleburne 4, Winnipeg 3 – Box

The Railroaders won in dramatic fashion Saturday night, winning in the bottom of the 9th on a walk-off single by 2B Mitch Glasser that scored RF KC Huth. Winnipeg took an early 2-0 lead in the 3rd before Cleburne tied it in the bottom of the inning. Cleburne took a 3-2 lead in the 4th before Winnipeg tied the game again in the 6th at three.

LF Nick Van Stratten knocked in two runs in the win for Cleburne. 3B Brandon Tierney and DH Kewby Meyer each added two hits for the Railroaders.

RHP Winston Abreu picked up the win in relief, pitching a perfect 9th and striking out two.

1B Shawn Pleffner went 3-4 in the losing effort, also scoring a run.

LHP Kenny Mathews picked up the loss, allowing a walk and a run in a third of an inning for the Goldeyes.

 

Salina 4, Wichita 3 (Game 1- 7 innings) – Box

The Stockade was able to get revenge for its opening day loss on Friday, by beating the Wingnuts 4-3 on Saturday, thanks to two home runs from RF Daniel Aldrich. Aldrich’s first homer came in the third inning, plating SS Aaron Olivas and LF Roche Woodard to tie the game at three. His next homer was a solo shot in the sixth inning that proved to be the game-winner for Salina, as the game concluded after seven innings. Aldrich finished 3-4 on the night with 4 RBIs and two runs scored.

Woodard and 1B Joey Miller each had two hits in the win.

LHP Brian Smith picked up the win for the Stockade. Smith pitched 4.1 innings, allowing six hits, and three runs while walking three and striking out four. RHP Tyler Herr picked up the save, pitching the final 2.1 innings for his team. He allowed three hits and a walk while striking out four over the span.

2B Christian Stringer picked up two hits in the losing effort while scoring once and knocking in his second run of the season.

RHP Ryan Kussmaul earned the loss for the Wingnuts. He went six innings, allowed four runs, walked two batters and struck out three in the losing effort.

 

Wichita 10, Salina 1 (Game 2- 7 innings) – Box

After losing the first game of the doubleheader, the Wingnuts roared back to take the second game 10-1, improving to 2-1 on the season. Most of the damage came in the 4th when the Wingnuts scored six runs, capped by two, two-run singles by LF Brennan Salgado and RF Richard Prigatano.

3B T.J. Mittelstaedt also drove in two runs in the winning effort, finishing 2-3 in the win.

LHP Charlie Leesman picked up the win, pitching five shutout innings, allowing four hits and striking out two.

PH Aaron Olivas picked up the lone RBI for the Stockade in the loss.

LHP Chris Cummins picked up the loss, lasting three innings, allowing a hit, two runs, one earned, to go along with five walks and one strikeout.

 

Fargo-Moorhead 5, Texas 0 – Box

A four-run 3rd inning propelled the RedHawks to their third straight win to start the regular season. 2B Ryan Pineda had a leadoff walk and later scored on a wild pitch. 3B Josh Mazzola and RF K.D. Kang each picked up RBI doubles in the inning. Kang also homered in the first inning, his first of the season.

Mazzola, Kang and DH Jesus Posso each contributed two hits in the win.

LHP Cesilio Pimentel dominated the AirHogs, blanking them over eight innings, allowing three hits and striking out eight in the process.

2B Trevor Sealey, 1B Levi Scott and DH Brian Ragira each picked up a hit in the losing effort.

RHP Carlos Contreras earned the loss, pitching four innings, allowing six hits, five runs, while walking four and striking out five.

 

Lincoln 4, Kansas City 2 – Box

After the T-Bones won the opening game on Friday, the Saltdogs got revenge on Saturday, winning 4-2 thanks to a go-ahead run scored by 1B Trevor Adams on an error. The Saltdogs added an insurance run in the 7th, thanks to a RBI single by 3B Christian Ibarra.

DH Curt Smith hit his first homer of the season in the winning effort.

RHP Carlos Pimentel picked up the win in his first start of the season. He pitched six innings, allowed six hits, two runs, and three walks while striking out nine.

RHP Michael Wagner picked up the save, pitching the final two frames. He got all six batters out, striking out three in the process.

3B Marcus Lemon and LF Joe Jackson each hit their first home runs of the season for the T-Bones.

RHP Luis Paula earned the loss in relief, allowing a hit, a run, and a walk in an inning while striking out two.

 

Sioux City at Sioux Falls- Postponed

The game between the Explorers and Canaries was postponed due to rain. It will be made up as a doubleheader, played on Sunday, July 30, beginning at 1:05 pm CT at Sioux Falls Stadium.

 

Gary Southshore at St. Paul- Postponed

The game between the Railcats and Saints was postponed due to rain. It will be made up as a doubleheader, played tomorrow, beginning at 4 pm CT at CHS Field.
