GOLDEYES START FAST, BEAT CANARIES

Winnipeg 5, Sioux Falls 4- Box 

The host Goldeyes scored three runs in the first inning and never looked back, taking a 5-4 win over the Canaries on Wednesday morning at Shaw Park. RF David Rohm led off the first inning with a single, and scored on an RBI double by LF Josh Romanski. CF Reggie Abercrombie kept the line moving, driving in Romanski with an RBI single, and Abercrombie would score himself on a sacrifice fly by C Mason Katz.

DH David Bergin added a solo home run in the third, and Romanski drove in the Goldeyes’ final run with an RBI single in the fourth. Rohm finished the day with a team-high three hits, while Romanski and Abercrombie collected two each.

RHP Zach Nuding struck out four over six innings to earn the win, and RHP Ryan Chafee shut the door with a scoreless ninth for the save.

LF Ty Morrison hit a two-run homer for the Canaries in the loss.
