HOOPER VOTED MANAGER OF THE YEAR

DURHAM, NC – Successful seasons have become commonplace for the Wichita Wingnuts since Kevin Hooper (pictured) took over as skipper in 2009. Once again, the Wingnuts impressed in 2014 to the tune of a league- and franchise-best 73-27 regular season record. As a result, Hooper has been voted the American Association Manager of the Year.

This is the second consecutive year in which Hooper has been selected as the top manager in the American Association and the third time in his now six-year career with the Wingnuts.

Back in his inaugural season in Wichita, Hooper led the Wingnuts to a first-place finish and a 58-38 record. Last year was even better for the ‘Nuts. Hooper guided his club to yet another first-place finish and a then-franchise-best 68-52 record. In the playoffs, Hooper’s club advanced to the American Association championship series for the second straight year.

The Wingnuts have made the playoffs in five out of Hooper’s six years at the helm and the club has always had a winning record under his direction. This season, Wichita is back in the American Association championship series, marking the third straight year for Hooper in the finals.
