KUSSMAUL LEADS MILKMEN PAST CANARIES

Milwaukee 3, Sioux Falls 1 – Box Score

The Milwaukee Milkmen held the Sioux Falls Canaries to just three hits as they picked up a 3-1 win on Thursday at Franklin Field.

Starter Ryan Kussmaul earned the win for working seven innings, allowing one unearned run on three hits and recorded 10 strikeouts.

Milwaukee found the scoreboard in the fourth when 2B Dylan Tice singled to right field to allow 3B Logan Trowbridge to score. The Canaries tied things up in the sixth when 1B Alay Lago reached on a dropped third strike and that gave SS Andrew Ely time to find home plate. But in the seventh, Tice and DH Jose Sermo both scored when SS Mason Davis (2-for-3) singled.

 

Chicago 7, Winnipeg 2 – Box Score

The Chicago Dogs notched their fifth win in a row as they topped the Winnipeg Goldeyes 7-2.

The Dogs never trailed in the game as they took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning thanks to an RBI double from CF Michael Crouse (2-for-4) and an RBI bounce out from 1B K.C. Hobson that scored 2B Edwin Arroyo (2-for-5). Crouse found home plate in the third when Arroyo singled 3B/P Harrison Smith (2-for-4) scored in the sixth when LF Brett Milazzo (3-for-4) did the same.

Smith added a two-run homer in the sixth and Hobson capped the scoring for the Dogs with a sac fly in the seventh that plated Crouse. 1B Kyle Martin hit a solo home run for the Goldeyes in the bottom of the ninth but the rally was cut short.

 

Fargo-Moorhead 10, St. Paul 2 – Box Score

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks racked up 15 hits as they dropped the St. Paul Saints 10-2 on Thursday at CHS Field.

Five different RedHawks had multi-hit games and eight of the nine batters that went to the plate recorded at least one hit. CF Brennan Metzger and LF Forresst Allday each had five hits and two runs scored and Allday added a game-high three RBIs including a two-run homer in the eighth. 1B Drew Ward, SS Christian Ibarra and C Nick Kahle each added a pair hits and Ibarra had a pair of RBIs.

For the Saints, CF Mikey Reynolds went 3-for-4 and DH Josh Allen had both the team’s RBIs.

Start Matt Tomshaw went the distance for the RedHawks, allowing two runs on eight hits while striking out five batters and improving to 2-2 on the year.
