LINK NAMED AMERICAN ASSOCIATION PITCHER OF THE WEEK

DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Wichita Wingnuts RHP Jon Link (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending July 6.

Link made two starts this week and earned two wins for the Wingnuts. On Monday, he went six innings and struck out five in a 13-3 win over the Amarillo Sox at home. He followed that up with a win over the Sioux City Explorers on Saturday. Link pitched seven shutout innings, scattering four hits and picking up seven strikeouts with no walks.

On the season, the Wake Forest, North Carolina resident is 6-2 with a 3.17 ERA in 11 starts. He has 50 strikeouts in 73 and 2/3 innings.

Link and the Wingnuts will begin a home series with the Sioux Falls Canaries on Monday at 7:05 p.m. Central time at Lawrence Dumont Stadium in Wichita.
