DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Amarillo Thunderheads INF Juan Martinez (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending July 19.

The Bakersfield, Calif. resident began his week on Monday at the Laredo Lemurs with a 2-for-4 game. Both hits were doubles, and Martinez drove in three in the Thunderheads’ 6-4 loss. After an off day Tuesday, Martinez and the Thunderheads took on the Joplin Blasters Wednesday. In the completion of a suspended game, Martinez was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Later, in game two, Martinez was 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in a 7-5 win. A day later, the two clubs played a traditional doubleheader with Amarillo winning game one 7-4.
