DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Gary SouthShore RailCats RHP Dustin Crenshaw (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 8.
Crenshaw made two starts over the course of the week, earning wins in both. On Wednesday, June 4, he took the hill in game one of a doubleheader at the Sioux City Explorers and turned in a masterful performance. Crenshaw logged a seven-inning complete game, allowing no runs on only one hit with no walks and two strikeouts. The RailCats won the game, 2-0, and would go on to sweep the twinbill.
Just four days later, Crenshaw was back, starting a Sunday afternoon home game against the Sioux Falls Canaries. He went seven innings, allowing one run on four hits with four strikeouts as the RailCats rolled to a 7-1 win.
With the two dominating starts, Crenshaw improved his record to 2-1 over the week and lowered his ERA from 2.35 to 1.70. On the year, the third-year pro now has 19 strikeouts to only five walks. Crenshaw is in his first year with the RailCats after two seasons with the Can-Am League’s Quebec Capitales. Crenshaw earned the Can-Am League Pitcher of the Week award for the week ending July 14, 2013.
Crenshaw and his RailCats open a three-game home series against the Sioux City Explorers tonight at 7:10 p.m. Central time at the U.S. Steel Yard in Gary, Indiana.
