DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Winnipeg Goldeyes INF Shawn Pleffner (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending May 21.

The Kissimmee, Fla., native recorded his first multi-hit game of the year in the Goldeyes’ season-opening 5-3 win over the Cleburne Railroaders on Thursday in Cleburne, Tex. Pleffner went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the victory. A day later, Pleffner finished with a 4-for-5 line in a 6-4 win over Cleburne. He finished a triple shy of the cycle, as he collected another double and hit his lone home run of the week in the game. Pleffner did not slow down on Saturday, collecting three hits, two of them doubles, in a four at bats in a narrow 4-3 loss in Cleburne. The Railroaders edged the Goldeyes by a 4-3 final again on Sunday, despite a double and a walk from Pleffner.
