DURHAM, NC – The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Wichita Wingnuts OF John Rodriguez (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Hitter of the Week.
Nobody was as productive as Rodriguez this week. The outfielder averaged nearly two RBI per game by driving in 13 for the Wingnuts. Rodriguez tallied multiple RBI in five of seven games, including a three-RBI performance against the Can-Am League’s Rockland Boulders on Wednesday. He also hit a home run in that game, one of three for Rodriguez this week.
The left-handed hitter was also a consistently tough out. Rodriguez was 12-for-27 (.444) this week and put the ball in play with impressive regularity. In 32 plate appearances, Rodriguez only struck out twice. Those numbers helped lead the Wingnuts to a 6-1 week in their trip to the Can-Am League.
