SAINTS SHUTOUT BLASTERS, 4-0

St. Paul 4, Joplin 0 – Box

Another sensational performance by St. Paul starting pitcher Dustin Crenshaw leads the Saints to a 4-0 win over the Joplin Blasters. The righty earned his 13th win of the season as he tossed a complete game shutout allowing only six hits while striking out four batters. Crenshaw currently leads the American Association in wins and is fourth in ERA at 2.03. Most of the St. Paul offense came off of one swing by C Joey Paciorek. Paciorek launched a second inning three-run home run to give the Saints an early 3-0 lead. For the Blasters in defeat, 3B Jairo Perez went 2-for-4.

Gary SouthShore 7, Sioux Falls 2 (5 Innings/Rain) – Box

The Gary SouthShore RailCats scored two runs in the fourth inning to break a 2-2 tie and would go on to defeat Sioux Falls by the score of 7-2 in game shortened due to rain. Gary SouthShore LF Adam Taylor led the way offensively going a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate with a home run and three RBI. RailCats 1B J.D. Pulfer added a pair of hits with a run scored and a RBI and 2B Alex Hernandez plated a run in a 1-for-3 day. Gary SouthShore starter Chuck Fontana notched the win to even his mark at 4-4 on the season. Fontana went five innings giving up two earned runs on a hit.

Rockland 9, Lincoln 8 – Box

Rockland plated two runs in the top of the eighth inning to take the lead for good as the Boulders edged past the Lincoln Saltdogs by a 9-8 final. Rockland LF Stephen Cardullo led the offense going 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBI. Boulders CF Jared McDonald had three hits in four at-bats along with a pair of runs scored and a RBI and CF Marcus Nidiffer added his 20th home run of the season. Rockland pitcher Daniel Carela threw a scoreless inning of relief to collect the victory. Carela is now 4-0 this year.

Wichita 6, Laredo 0 – Box

Wichita starting pitcher Eddie Medina and two relievers combined on a nine-hit shutout as the Wingnuts downed the Laredo Lemurs by a 6-0 final. Medina went the first seven innings allowing eight hits and four walks while fanning three batters. The righty notched the victory and is now a perfect 4-0 on the season. Wichita relievers, Iden Nazario and Alex Boshers, finished off the contest giving up only a hit over the last two innings. Wingnuts CF Jayce Ray went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a RBI and RF David Espinosa had two hits and plated a run.

Kansas City at Sioux City (Postponed – Rain)

The game between Kansas City and Sioux City was postponed due to rain. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Monday, August 17 beginning at 5:05 PM.
