SIX-RUN FOURTH LIFTS SAINTS PAST RAILCATS

St. Paul 10, Gary SouthShore 5 – Box

St. Paul scored six big runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to blow the game open as the Saints doubled up the Gary SouthShore RailCats, 10-5. Saints CF Alonzo Harris was the star of game offensively as he went 3-for-5 with a home run (three-run shot in the fourth), two runs scored, two stolen bases and four RBI. St. Paul 3B Mike Gilmartin scored a pair of runs in a 2-for-3 night while DH Nate Hanson launched a three-run home run in the six-run fourth. Saints starter John Straka notched the victory as he gave up four earned runs on six hits in 5 1/3 innings pitched. With the win, St. Paul swept the four-game series from the RailCats.

Sioux Falls 6, Sioux City 2 – Box

The Sioux Falls Canaries finished off a four-game sweep of the Sioux City Explorers as they won by a 6-2 final. After falling behind early 2-0, Sioux Falls tallied two runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the score and then scored a run in the seventh and three more in the eighth to cruise to the victory. Canaries 2B Frank Martinez led way at the plate going 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI. Sioux Falls 3B Blake Schmit had a pair of hits in three at-bats while C Cameron Garfield went 1-for-2 with a run scored and a RBI.  Canaries reliever Josh Ferrell tossed an 1/3 of an inning to pick-up the win.

Laredo 6, Fargo-Moorhead 3 – Box

The Laredo Lemurs banged out 14 hits en route to a 6-3 win over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. Laredo 3B Travis Denker went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI while CF Drew Martinez had two hits, two walks and scored a run. Lemurs LF Ty Morrison chipped in with four hits in five at-bats plus a RBI. Laredo starting pitcher Henry Garcia threw 6 2/3 innings to collect his first win of the season. Garcia allowed three earned runs on seven hits and struck out three batters. Fargo-Moorhead, who left 11 runners on base, was led by LF Keury De La Cruz who went 3-for-5 and scored a run.
