Kansas City 2, Laredo 1 (10 Innings) – Box
Kansas City 1B Jake Blackwood scored the game winning run on a hit by pitch in the bottom of the 10th inning as the T-Bones beat Laredo in walk-off fashion, 2-1. The Lemurs jumped out on top 1-0 in the fourth inning as 3B Abel Nieves scored on a sacrifice fly by RF Burt Reynolds. Kansas City tied the contest up at 1-1 in the seventh as RF Starlin Rodriguez scored on a fielder’s choice. The score would stay that way until the 10th when Blackwood crossed the plate with the winning run. T-Bones DH Anthony Gallas and SS Vladimir Frias each had two hits in three at-bats with 3B Jimmy Mojica collecting a hit and a RBI. Kansas City pitcher Tyler Ybarra tossed a scoreless 10th inning to earn his first win. The victory by the T-Bones finished off the series sweep and have now won seven straight.
Fargo-Moorhead 5, Gary SouthShore 4 – Box
Fargo-Moorhead scored all five of their runs in the first four innings of play and held off a late Gary SouthShore rally to win, 5-4. RedHawks leadoff hitter Kes Carter led the way offensively going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Fargo-Moorhead LF Brian Humphries scored a pair of runs and drove in one in a 1-for-2 day while RF Keury De La Cruz added a solo home run in the third inning. RedHawks starting pitcher Brian Ernst picked up his second win as he gave up three earned runs on seven hits in 7 2/3 innings pitched. With the victory, Fargo-Moorhead took 3-of-4 in the series.
Wichita 9, Winnipeg 4 – Box
After two scoreless innings, Wichita scored five runs over the next two frames to take control of the game and beat Winnipeg, 9-4. The Wingnuts tallied 14 hits in the contest with each batter collecting at least one. Wichita 3B T.J. Mittelstaedt went 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI while leadoff hitter Richard Prigatano drove in two runs and collected three hits. Wingnuts starting pitcher Tim Brown tossed six innings and picked up his eighth victory of the year. Brown gave up four earned runs on eight hits and struck out a batter. For the Goldeyes in defeat, LF Adam Heisler and DH Willie Cabrera each had three hits, including a home run, and two RBI.
Joplin 7, Texas 2 – Box
Right fielder Mark Krueger launched a grand slam in the first inning to give Joplin a 4-0 lead and that would be all they would need in a 7-2 victory over Texas. The Blasters had 12 hits in the contest with three batters having multi-hit games. Joplin 3B Brandon Tierney and 1B Geraldo Valentin each had three hits with DH Edwin Gomez scoring a run in a 2-for-5 day. Blasters C Conor Sullivan also chipped in with a three-run home run in the third inning. Joplin starting pitcher Luis Gonzalez tossed seven solid innings in notching his second win of the season. Gonzalez threw seven innings allowing two hits and two walks and striking out a pair.
