Kansas City 16, Joplin 11- Box
The T-Bones slugged their way past the Blasters in a 16-11 win at CommunityAmerica Ballpark on Tuesday. The 16 run outburst came in just four innings, with three-spots in the first and sixth sandwiched around five-run third and fifth innings. DH Anthony Gallas cleared the bases with a three-run double in the fifth, pushing the lead to 13-4 at the time. While that knock was Gallas’ lone hit of the night, 2B Brett Wiley was 3-for-4 to lead the team, and was a home run shy of the cycle on the night. Three other T-Bones had two hits in the win.
On the mound, LHP Josh Tols struck out three in 2.1 innings to pick up the win.
Joplin pounded out 18 hits in the loss, highlighted by a two-homer night from LF Willie Cabrera.
Fargo-Moorhead 4, Sioux Falls 2- Box
RHP Taylor Stanton scattered nine hits and two runs over eight strong innings, and the RedHawks held off the Canaries for a 4-2 win Tuesday. The bulk of the RedHawks’ offense came in a three-run third inning. With two on and no out, RF Keury De La Cruz collected an RBI single. DH K.D. Kang picked up an RBI fielder’s choice later in the inning, and the frame’s third run scored on a wild pitch. Fargo-Moorhead had previously scored in the first inning on an RBI double by SS Josh Mazzola.
Mazzola had three of the RedHawks’ eight hits in the win. In addition to Stanton picking up the victory on the mound, RHP Colton Reavis struck out two in a 1-2-3 ninth for the save.
For Sioux Falls, 3B Ozney Guillen went 3-for-4 win the loss.
Gary SouthShore 5, Texas 3- Box
Tied 3-3 heading to the ninth inning, the RailCats used back-to-back extra base hits to pull ahead of the AirHogs and take a 5-3 win. With two outs and LF Matt Petrone at second base, 3B Frank Martinez put the team ahead with an RBI double. Martinez scored himself on a triple from 1B Jeremy Hamilton to provide insurance.
Petrone, who had singled to get aboard in the ninth, finished the night with a pair of hits. RF Tillman Pugh and 2B Elbert Devarie joined him with a two hits. RHP Santiago Rodriguez tossed a scoreless inning for the win, and RHP Taylor Black recorded the final two outs for the save.
1B Devon Rodriguez was 3-for-4 for Texas in the loss.
St. Paul 6, Sioux City 2- Box
Four runs in four batters in the fourth inning gave the Saints a comfortable lead, and St. Paul would go on to beat the Explorers 6-2. RF Chad Christensen started the parade with an RBI single, and C Aaron Gretz followed with a bases-loaded walk. 2B Alonzo Harris hit a sacrifice fly, and CF Breland Almadova capped it off with another RBI single. The RBI single was Almadova’s second in as many innings. 1B Angelo Songco and LF Willie Argo had three hits apiece for the Saints in the win.
RHP Robert Coe struck out three in seven innings for St. Paul as he picked up the win.
SS Nate Samson was 3-for-4 in the losing effort for Sioux City.
Wichita 4, Laredo 3- Box
Trailing 3-0 early, the Wingnuts rallied for a 4-3 win over the Lemurs in a South Division clash. 1B Dustin Geiger, DH Richard Prigatano and CF Harrison Kain had back-to-back-to-back RBI singles in a three-run fifth as the Wingnuts tied the game and subsequently took the lead. Geiger had previously scored his team’s first run on an RBI double by C Brent Dean in the fourth.
Kain had a three-hit night, one of four Wingnuts with a multi-hit game. RHP Alex Boshers did not allow an earned run in six innings, earning the win for Wichita. LHP Frankie Reed struck out a batter in a scoreless ninth for the save.
For Laredo, 2B JD Pulfer was 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Winnipeg 14, Lincoln 1- Box
A 19-hit explosion for the Goldeyes paved the way for a 14-1 win over the Saltdogs in Lincoln. Scoring in five straight innings from the second through the sixth, Winnipeg plated 13 of their 14 runs. In a five-run sixth, 3B Wes Darvill drove in two runs on a two-RBI single, and C Carlton Tanabe followed with a two-run triple. Four Goldeyes notched three or more hits, with RF David Rohm leading the way with a 4-for-6 night.
RHP Mikey O’Brien worked six innings, allowing just one run, earning the win for the Goldeyes.
For Lincoln, SS Mike Gilmartin was 3-for-4 with a double.
