Wichita 9, Lincoln 6 – Box
Wichita broke a 3-3 tie with four runs in the fourth inning as the Wingnuts get past Lincoln, 9-6. Wichita banged out 15 hits in the game with six hitters collecting at least two hits. Wingnuts CF Brent Clevlen went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored while SS Ryan Khoury had two hits in five at-bats along with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI. Wichita DH Carlo Testa and C Chris McMurray each drove in three runs and 1B David Espinosa plated three runs. Wingnuts starting pitcher Jon Link received plenty of offensive support and picked up his league leading 11th win of the season. Link gave up five earned runs on nine hits in six innings of work. For Lincoln in defeat, SS Mike Gilmartin had three doubles and scored two runs.
Sioux City 4, Gary SouthShore 1 – Box
The 3-4-5 hitters of Sioux City lead the way in the Explorers 4-1 win over the Gary SouthShore RailCats. Sioux City 1B Rene Tosoni, 2B Andres Perez and DH Peter Barrows went a combined 6-for-11 at the plate, scoring three runs and driving in all four. Barrows also chipped in with his 12th home run of the season. Explorers starting pitcher Lars Liguori tossed 6 2/3 innings en route to his first win. Liguori allowed an earned run on four hits and struck out five batters. Sioux City reliever Geoff Broussard tossed a scoreless ninth to collect his second save of the season.
Laredo 8, Kansas City 2 – Box
Laredo completed the four-game sweep of Kansas City as they downed the T-Bones by the score of 8-2. The Lemurs jumped out to a 3-1 lead after just the first inning and would roll from there to the victory. Laredo LF JP Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI and RF Denis Phipps hit his 11th home run of the season. Lemurs CF Nick Van Stratten drove in a pair of runs while 2B Travis Denker scored two runs. Laredo starting pitcher Casey Harman allowed an earned run on four hits in six innings pitched and picked up his fifth win.
