WINNIPEG SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER WITH FARGO-MOORHEAD

Winnipeg 7, Fargo-Moorhead 2 (Game 1, 7 Innings) – Box

The Winnipeg Goldeyes were led by a strong offensive showing to take down the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 7-2. RF Josh Mazzola paced the Goldeyes with a 3-4 game out of the two-hole while SS Tyler Kuhn and 1B Casey Haerther each had two hits in the three and four spots of the lineup respectively. Chris Salamida picked up the win for the Goldeyes after throwing all seven innings and allowing just two runs. He struck out six batters and walked one on 99 pitches.

Winnipeg 4, Fargo-Moorhead 3 (Game 2, 7 Innings) – Box

The Winnipeg Goldeyes took their second game against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 4-3. SS Tyler Kuhn and DH Jordan Guida both had multi-hit nights to lead the Goldeyes offensively. Ethan Hollingsworth picked up the win for Winnipeg after throwing 5.1 innings and allowing three runs.

Lincoln 5, Amarillo 2 – Box

The Lincoln Saltdogs took down the Amarillo Sox 5-2, with all but one player notching hits in the game. DH Ian Gac had one of the better nights at the plate for Lincoln, going 1-4 with his 14th homer of the season. He picked up two RBIs and scored during the game. Kevin McGovern was tabbed with the win for Lincoln after 7.2 innings of work. He gave up two runs (neither earned) and struck out four batters while working around six Amarillo hits.

Gary SouthShore 5, Sioux City 2 – Box

The Gary SouthShore RailCats took down the Sioux City Explorers 5-2 after racking up 12 hits, with all but one player in the lineup getting into the hit column. LF Josh Romanski had two hits out of the seven spot for Gary, doubling twice and scoring a pair of runs. Starting pitcher Kagen Hopkins picked up the win for Gary after throwing five, two-run innings. He worked around six hits in the process while walking one batter.

Laredo 9, Wichita 7 – Box

The Laredo Lemurs came out of the gate swinging the bats against the Wichita Wingnuts, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning before eventually taking a 9-7 victory. CF Nick Van Stratten proved to be a fantastic spark plug out of the leadoff spot, going 2-4 with a walk and a double. He scored once and also drove in a pair of runs. Jeremy Strawn started on the hill for Laredo and tossed 5.2 innings of six-run baseball while still getting the win.

Kansas City 7, Grand Prairie 6 (10 Innings) – Box

The Kansas City T-Bones took down the Grand Prairie AirHogs 7-6 in a ten inning game after SS Vladamir Frias scored on a walkoff walk. DH David Espinosa was the player who took the game-winning walk. In addition to scoring the game winning run, Frias had a three-hit game that included two runs and an RBI.

St. Paul 5, Sioux Falls 4 (13 Innings) – Box

The St. Paul Saints needed 13 innings, but they were eventually able to rally past the Sioux Falls Canaries and pick up a 5-4 victory. The win came in the bottom of the 13th inning when 3B Henry Wrigley scored on an error after reaching base earlier in the inning on an error. DH Devin Thaut had a terrific game out of the batter’s box for St. Paul, going 4-5 out of the leadoff spot with a pair of walks and three RBIs. LF Willie Cabrera also had four hits for the Saints, which included his ninth double of the season.
