DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Wichita WingnutsDH J.T. Wise (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending June 23.
Wise recorded hits in all six games he played in for the Wingnuts this week. He went 10-for-26 in games against the Laredo Lemurs and Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. On Monday, June 16, Wise was 1-for-4 with two RBIs in Wichita’s 7-4 win. A day later, Wise was 1-for-4 with a double as Wichita won 5-1. Wichita completed the sweep with a 13-7 win on Wednesday, and Wise was 2-for-5. For the weekend, the Wingnuts came home to face Fargo-Moorhead and Wise’s bat came alive. In Friday’s series opener, he went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs, helping Wichita to a 5-1 win. Saturday, Wise was 2-for-4 in an 8-7 win, adding another solo home run and RBI. Wise closed out his hot series with two more home runs on Sunday, going 2-for-5 with two home runs and six RBIs.
The Orlando, Florida resident is now hitting .298 on the season with 13 doubles and eight home runs with 33 RBIs. Wise increased his average from .278 to .298 with the hot week at the plate.
Wise and his Wingnuts open a home series with the Grand Prairie AirHogs on Monday at 7:05 pm. Central time at Lawrence-DuMont Stadium.
